On December 5th hundreds of Best Buddies participants, supporters, and community members gathered to celebrate friendship and the impact Best Buddies has had throughout the Capital District despite the seasons first snowfall.
Laughter rang throughout the gym while groups of friends itched to get in line for the various carnival games not a single person standing alone. The mission of Best Buddies was brought to life that afternoon students coming together celebrating regardless of their disabilities.
Robert Davis, a Ballston Spa High School student, said, I joined Best Buddies to make a difference in some small way but ironically, the impact I had on the buddies lives was probably just as big as the impact they had on mine.
I have definitely changed as a person because of Best Buddies. I dont notice my buddies disability anymore its his friendly personalities and open heart that I see first.
Met Life Auto & Home brought the largest community team to the celebration raising money to help support Best Buddies months before the event with office bake sales and bottle drives.
Lynn DeBarr said, We look forward to this every year. It really brings our team together and knowing you are having an impact on such an important program is something all of us can feel really good about.
On behalf of the Best Buddies team we thank all who came out to support Best Buddies during the 6th Annual Friendship Walk.
